Building to the right of it with sign says, "Ship Work" - now a residence at 119 Shore Road. It now has an addition on the right. Fourth building from the left has a sign, "Portland Liquid Paint." The steeple on the Manset Union Church is visible on the horizon between the fourth and fifth building from the left. Fifth building from the left has a hammock on the front porch. |

The children seem to be in the same places, but the teachers are standing in different places. Researchers have identified the children, but not the order in which they appear. The children whose places are noted below may apply to one or the other of the photographs. Teachers are Luther Bridges of Blue Hill and Alice E. Mason (1879-1964). James L. Grant (1895-1981) – brother to Doris M. Grant Hall Quarry – small blonde boy, third row on right. Doris M. Grant (1899-1987) – sister to James L. Grant Hall Quarry – second row, third from left. | The view is from the Pemetic Hotel (The Castle) and, on the Southwest Harbor side, shows the Clarence Clark (Ellsbert/Heilaka) house left foreground. The long roofed building in the center, next to the harbor, a bowling alley after World War II - currently the Hamilton Marine building. The building on the right with the striped roof is the firm of Clark & Parker/Manset Marine Supply Co./ and the Oceanarium since 1979. The Oceanarium is the oldest commercial building on Clark Point - the only one extant except the Clarence Clark House. The Manset shore is in the background with discernible landmarks, including the Manset Union Church, the Stanley wharf, the early Stanley House and numerous commercial buildings on the Shore Road. There are about 30 schooners visible in the harbor and tied up at the wharves. - Identifications by Meredith Hutchins - 2006 |

The excursion boat "Seal" in the center of the photograph was built by Normand Joseph Bouchard for Linwood Boynton Wedge (1913-1961) and Woodrow Wilson Herrick (1914-2002) to be used as a dragger. "Seal" was owned by Samuel A. | The automobile to the right of the vessel is a circa 1948 Jeep CJ (Civilian Jeep) Note the peavey stuck into the ground (above the “O” on the “DETOUR” sign). A peavey is a logging tool with a wooden shaft and metal hook invented in 1857 by blacksmith Joseph Daniel Peavey (1799-1873) of Stillwater, Maine, as a refinement to the cant hook to manhandle logs on logging runs. The Peavey Manufacturing Co. is still located in Maine (Eddington, Maine) and manufactures several variations. |
