Joseph and Adeline Dolliver (1821-1876), daughter of Peter Jr. and Phebe Jane (Smallidge) Dolliver, were married on April 18, 1837 by Enoch Spurling. Joseph Gilley died on July 10, 1894. "Mr. Joseph Gilley of Baker’s Island who is 78 years of age, boasts of a full set of natural teeth. A few of the front teeth are somewhat worn by pipe stems, otherwise his teeth would all be in perfect condition. Mr. Gilley wishes his jaws preserved after death." - Bar Harbor Record, November 5, 1891. |

They were the parents of six children, among them, Leslie Frank White Jr. (1921-2010). Leslie married second Margaret Brewer (1894-1983), daughter of Everett Kimball Brewer and Nellie Josephine (Leland) Brewer, on May 22, 1953 in Bar Harbor. Leslie Frank White Sr. died on May 14, 1967 in Southwest Harbor, Maine. “Les” White built the original Harbor View Motel. Among his other business enterprises Leslie owned the Gordon & White Garage with Earl W. Gordon (1893-1964) at 322-326-330 Main Street. |
