The Sou’wester 34 was originally called the Sout’wester 24. The 24 probably referred to its length at the waterline, not its overall length of 34’. “Sixty-two Sou’wjest 34’s were built, the largest single design auxiliary crusing boat fleet at the time.” — The Hinckley Story (p. 39).
