A picket boat is a type of small naval craft used for harbor patrol and other close inshore work. "There were two open storage sheds [in 1941] in Manset. When the Coast Guard boat contract [for picket boats] came, we had to set about immediately joining these buildings together in order to have a place to build them. These buildings are still part of the main assembly building." – The Hinckley Story, p. 30.
