The long roofed building in the center, next to the harbor, a bowling alley after World War II - currently the Hamilton Marine building. The building on the right with the striped roof is the firm of Clark & Parker/Manset Marine Supply Co./ and the Oceanarium since 1979. The Oceanarium is the oldest commercial building on Clark Point - the only one extant except the Clarence Clark House. The Manset shore is in the background with discernible landmarks, including the Manset Union Church, the Stanley wharf, the early Stanley House and numerous commercial buildings on the Shore Road. The two story building on the right had offices on the first floor and draftsmen above. The blacksmith shop was in the center of the picture. Ballard wrote this note on the negative sleeve for the photograph: "“Bluenose” Ferry Terminal, Bar Harbor, ME; taken the day the Bar Harbor-Yarmouth ferry was officially welcomed (service had been on since the early part of January). Blowing a hard SE gale, and I had to press down so hard on the camera that the tripod sagged. I was the only one who remained on the ridge."
