He used a Canon 5D Mark III digital SLR camera and a Canon 45mm f/2.8 tilt/shift lens shooting 1/125 sec, f/5.6 at ISO 100. This memorial to Waldron Bates is located on the south side of Gorham Mountain in Acadia National Park at the intersection of the Gorham Mountain Trail and the Cadillac Cliffs Path. This bronze plaque, attached to a granite wall, was designed by New York sculptor and Bar Harbor summer resident William Ordway Partridge. It was installed in September 1910 and reads: 1856-1909, WALDRON BATES IN MEMORIAM MCMX, PATHMAKER
