This postcard was mailed from Southwest Harbor July 7, 1916 and is addressed to Mr. G.B. Junkins, Kenduskeag, Me., R.D. 2. The back of the card reads: "This picture is just back of Cousins' cottage. Doesn't look much like home does it? It is like home in this. They have cows just over the way, and they have just begun haying around the house." Signed Elsie Junkins

The original title of the photograph was "Balance Rock on South Bubble" as the rock was known by that name when the photograph was taken in 1909 before the creation of Sieur de Monts National Monument, which later became Acadia National Park. The name was probably changed because of the confusion between it and the famous Balance Rock on the shore at Bar Harbor.

The vessel with sails up, coming into the dock, is a Maine Sloop Boat. Hand written note says "Many thanks for the box will write to and Edith soon. Lovingly, Mrs. Emery"
