Ramseyer - Frank Wells Ramseyer (1905-1974)

Frank Wells Ramseyer Jr., was born to Frank Wells and Edna Frances Holt Ramseyer on April 1, 1905 probably in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. Frank graduated from Harvard in 1926 and married the niece of Dorothy Elder Marcus (benefactor of the Southwest Harbor Public Library), Linda Chapin Marcus, daughter of William Elder (Jr.) and Dorothy Cooksey Marcus. Linda was born, probably in Montclair, New Jersey, on June 4, 1909. Frank Wells Ramsey Jr. died on October 18, 1974 and is buried at Mount Height Cemetery in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Linda Chapin Marcus Ramseyer died on May 23, 1975, in Norton, Massachusetts and is buried at Mount Height Cemetery in Southwest Harbor, Maine.

Frank W. Ramseyer was Professor of Music at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts and Chairman of the Department of Music at the college. He retired from Wheaton in June of 1969. Frank gave piano concerts for the benefit of several island causes, among them the Southwest Harbor Public Library at a time when the proceeds of such a concert were one of the main ways of raising much needed funds for the library.
