Walls - Frances Newell (Walls) Wasgatt Leighton Greening Savage (1833-1893) aka Fannie

Frances "Fannie" Newell Walls (1833-1893) led a complicated life. She was born September 14, 1833 to James Walls and Clarissa (Pierce) Walls in Otter Creek, Maine.

Fannie married first Asa Wasgatt Jr. (1816-1852), son of Asa Wasgatt Sr. and Sarah (Gott) Wasgatt, on November 5, 1849. Fannie was sixteen. They had one child:

Clara Abbey Wasgatt (1851-1936), later Mrs. Albert Stanley Dolliver. Asa drowned on July 14, 1852.

Fannie married second John Leighton from Hancock on August 10, 1853. Their child was Annie Adelma Leighton (1855-1935), later Mrs. Robert R. Ludwick.

Fannie married third James Greening (1798-1863) of Ireland on December 4, 1858. James was thirty-five years older than Fannie. Greening Island is named for him.
Their children were:

Jeanette "Nettie" May Greening (1862-1939), later Mrs. Olaus L. Mills.
Cora E. Greening (1860-1882), later William H. Bracy.

Fannie married fourth Thomas Savage (1823-1889) on December 6, 1880 as his third wife.

Frances "Fannie" Newell (Walls) Wasgatt Leighton Greening Savage died on October 21, 1893 in Tremont, Maine.
