Farnham - Augustus Bowman Farnham (1839-1918)

Augustus Bowman Farnham (1839-1918) was born on March 10, 1839 to Henry Bowman Farnham and Harriet (May) Farnham in Bangor, Maine. Augustus married first Ardelia Bennett Clark (1846-1874), daughter of Edwin Clark, a bank cashier, and Mary (McRuer) Clark on January 12, 1871. Augustus married second Laura Wood (1854-1930), daughter of Henry A. Wood and Mary M. (Horton) Wood, on March 27, 1878. Augustus Bowman Farnham died on January 14, 1918 in Bangor, Maine. He was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Bangor.

Augustus Bowman Farnham (1840-1920) was a civil engineer, served with distinction in the Civil War, and returned to Bangor to serve as postmaster of Bangor (1869-1885, 1891-1895) and sheriff of Penobscot County, Maine (1889-1890). He also served as inspector general (1887) and adjutant general (1901-1911) under three Maine governors while profitably pursuing many business interests.
