The house on the right with the peaked roof is the Edwin Leon Higgins House at 39 Clark Point Road, Tax Map 6 – Lot 105, built in 1884, Fred Sidney Mayo purchased the property at 45 Clark Point Road from George Harmon (1875-1942) in 1914 for $75. On it Mayo built the carpentry shop shown in the photograph.

The 20-year old business administration student at University of Maine at Orono says he plans to hang onto the land, which was donated by Conley Worcester of Southwest Harbor. Margo Stanley, at left, holds the copy of Thornton’s History of Somesville and Southwest Harbor that was won by the Southwest Harbor branch of the First National Bank of Bar Harbor. The second prize, a free, round-trip on Bar Harbor Airlines was won by Vaughn Marshall of Machias. The teacher appears to be the same teacher as shown in SWHPL 11903 – with Freeman Grammar School 1926 students. She may have been either Feodora Woodworth or Doris Motz both of whom taught in the "common school" in 1925-1926 and 1926-1927. Doris Motz's husband, Ralph Motz, also taught at the Freeman Grammar School.

John Lenzey was the son of Peter and Sarah (Newman) Stanley). He married Mary Elizabeth Whitmore on January 5, 1870. They had 4 children: Isaac Foster (b. Dec 1, 1870), Everett George (B. Sept 1, 1874), Fred Lenzey (1876-1880), and Nellie May (b. Sept 28, 1878). J.L. Stanley owned the J.L. Stanley Fishery. He also started a cold storage business, Southwest Harbor Cold Storage Company, in 1907. Along with several other men, he started the Tinkers Island Fish Company.

Leslie married first Aquaie Florence Richardson (1886-1950), daughter of Arthur T. Richardson and Ida M.(Ash) Richardson, on July 20, 1914 in Southwest Harbor, Maine. They were the parents of six children, among them, Leslie Frank White Jr. (1921-2010). Leslie married second Margaret Brewer (1894-1983), daughter of Everett Kimball Brewer and Nellie Josephine (Leland) Brewer, on May 22, 1953 in Bar Harbor. Leslie Frank White Sr. died on May 14, 1967 in Southwest Harbor, Maine. “Les” White built the original Harbor View Motel. Among his other business enterprises Leslie owned the Gordon & White Garage with Earl W. Gordon (1893-1964) at 322-326-330 Main Street.
